1 large cabbage

1 lb lean ground beef or turkey/chicken

1 onion peeled and grated

1/2 cup rice (uncooked)

1/2 cup water

1 egg

1/4 cup sugar

1 tbsp. lemon juice

1 tin 28 oz. tomatoes


Remove core from cabbage and set into boiling water for 15 minutes to loosens leaves. Mix together meat, onion, rice, water, egg and sugar. Mix well. Remove leaves from cabbage. Put meat mixture in center of each leaf. Roll up and secure with a toothpick. Put into a large pan and cover with tomatoes and lemon juice. Simmer for 2 hours adding more tomato juice or tomatoes if needed. Cook at 350.
