4 medium carrots cut to bun length
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp sesame oil
2 tbsp tamari or soy sauce
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp liquid smoke
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp salt
4 hot dog buns whole wheat
**Let's Cook the Carrots
Fill a large flat skillet or pan with water and bring to a boil.
Cut the carrots to bun length.
Reduce the water to a simmer and add the carrots. Cook for 10 minutes or until the carrots are fork tender but still firm. Cook the spare carrot parts, too, or eat them raw.
**Let's Prepare the Marinade
Prepare the marinade by adding apple cider vinegar, water, sesame oil, tamari, garlic powder, liquid smoke, black pepper and salt to a sealable container large enough to fit 4 carrots. You can also use a ziplock bag.
Add the carrots to the marinade and shake to coat. Let them soak for 4 hours or overnight if you like a stronger flavor.
**Let's Cook the Carrot Dogs
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Place the carrot dogs on a baking sheet spaced apart.
Cook the carrot dogs for 10 minutes or until they are sizzling. You can also put the carrots in a bun, wrap with a paper towel and microwave for 30 seconds.
Put the carrots on a hotdog bun and add with your favorite hotdog toppings like ketchup, mustard, relish, chili, onions, jalapeños, etc.
