Sweet and Sour Pork


8 oz pork

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp soy sauce

all purpose flour

egg yolk

1 tomato

1 onion

green pepper

pineapple chunks

1/2 cup sweet and sour sauce

green and red pepper

cooking oil

Sweet and Sour Sauce

1/3 cup of rice vinegar

4 tbsp of brown sugar

1 tbsp of tomato ketchup

2 tsp of cornstarch dissolved in 4 tsp of water

1 tsp of soy sauce

Combine all the ingredients then boil it until thickened.


Cut the pork into 3/4 inch cubes. Season with salt and soy sauce. Roll in all purpose flour. Roll again in egg yolk then roll again in flour. Deep fry until done. Cut tomato into 8 pieces. Cut onion also into 8 pieces. Chop green pepper into 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch squares for coloring purpose only.

Drain the cooked pork. Using the same cooking wok or pan, no need to clean it, brown onion and pepper in 1 tablespoon oil for 1/2 minute. Add in 1/2 cup "sweet and sour" sauce then cook for 1 minute. Add in tomato and pineapple chunks, cook for 5 seconds. Add the deep fried pork and turn off the heat. Mix well and serve immediately.
